What not to burn in your Greenheart workshop stove

  • Treated timber - treated timber releases toxic chemicals into the atmosphere when it is burnt.
  • Composite timber like Chipboard, Hardboard, MDF - the temperature can get too high inside your stove and might well damage it, these are glued together and again release toxic chemicals into the atmosphere when burnt.
  • Wood with paint on - the temperature can get too high inside your stove and might well damage it, and this will release toxic chemicals into the atmosphere when it is burnt.
  • Unseasoned wood - or wood with a moisture content above 25%.
  • Shavings on their own - mix in sawdust or they will burn too fast and your stove will get too hot.
  • Do not burn any type of coal or coke - your stove will definitely get too hot and be damaged.
